Annie smiled softly, shrugging a bit. "You know, lots of people really don't like being bothered when they're alone. For a bit, I thought that was what was going to be the case here....I'm just glad it didn't actually turn out that way." She nodded, remembering that she'd left her box of origami paper out and decided to put it back in her bag. You would've lost it if you'd forgotten that, she thought to herself, not quite sure if that was a joke or not.
"I uh....." Annie wasn't sure what he wanted to hear. She knew she wouldn't go into any dangerous territory with him. Bringing up the darker part of her past seemed to be nothing but dangerous to this kind of situation. "Well.... Instead, she went into something a little easier, even if it might've been boring. I don't know. I moved here from New York at the beginning of high school with my mom and my older brother John, uhm....I tend to be boring and spend a lot of my time in my room watching Asylum films and folding origami and chatting online...." She shrugged softly.
God, this was lame. Why did she have to take this route?
"I never know what to say when people ask me that. What about you?"
((XD Sorry this sucked, I will make it up to you~))

Samuel chuckled, Sorry about that! I always get a little bit...distracted...when i read. Nothing from the real world quite goes in! He laughed, rather awkwardly, as he realised how sad that sounded, a light blush colouring his cheeks. 'God, no wonder i have no friends!' he thought, internally shaking himself for such a stupid response.
He laughed, realising how much Annie sounded like him. I tend to spend a lot of time in my room as well, except most of it is spent drawing or reading. That's cool that you've got a brother, I've always hated being an only child! Gets a little boring, if you ask me! Being an only child probably explained the fact that he spent so much time in his room, on his own, reading books. He'd always imagined that if he had a younger brother they could have played games outside together... Or something along those lines anyway.
Well i was born in Tuscon, and have lived there all my life. Well until i got into college here. My parents are still down there but we don't exactly see eye-to-eye as it were so i don't speak to them very often. Umm.... that's about it really, he said, blushing again as he realised how pathetic his life sounded. Well, at least the bits that he was willing to divulge to somebody he had only just met. His life was certainly far from dull but that was information he prefered to keep to himself, it was easier that way.

"I envy you for being an only child," Annie said, laughing and shaking her head. "Whaddya' say we switch?" Obviously, she was joking. She wouldn't want to pass on her life to anyone else....no one deserved what she went through. Her brother at this point was one of the only things in her life that kept her sane. "But I know what you mean. The peace when he's gone is really nice....but then I realize how bored I am without him."
Annie frowned when he mentioned not getting along with his parents. "Oh man....I'd die if I couldn't live with my family.....well, exclude my father from that, but still." Her eyes widened slightly. Had she really just said that out loud? "They fought a lot, mom and dad." She hated the idea of lying to him, but she assumed it was safer than telling him what happened.
"God, wait, nevermind, I'm sorry. That's not it. I just. Don't feel like telling you right now is the best idea." She shook her head. Lying wasn't her color....it never really was. She just didn't know how safe it was to tell him what happened. At this point, the only person other than her and her family that knew was Mason....because they'd been friends forever.

Samuel chuckled, Sure! We can swap anytime! Although i doubt your brother would appreciate that! He laughed, knowing that they were only joking. Although he wished he had a sibling of some kind, he really was quite happy to be alone. I guess you must just get used to having someone else around.
Samuel smiled, rather bitterly, Well most people's parents support them every step of the way, and love their children dearly. Although, in my case, it appears not. He could understand his parents' reluctance to support him...sort of.. It must have been difficult for them when he was growing up, but they had supported him even then. Obviously, him going to juvie was the last straw, and so, after a rather long, bitter arguement full of resentment and harsh words, Samuel had left his family home and never gone back.
Don't worry, Annie, he said, reassuringly, There are plenty of things that i don't divulge on the first meeting either, he smiled, showing her that he wasn't offended by her reluctance to tell all of her secrets. Some things are left better unsaid, don't you think?
- rather lame, sorry, and sorry for the really late reply!! -

Annie frowned slightly when Samuel mentioned his parents not supporting him. She knew how that felt. At least with her father. Even if it had felt like compassion at the time, now she knew it wasn't, and that he'd just trained her too well to notice it was wrong. She sighed, fiddling with a piece of gold shiny paper after pulling it out of her bag. "I know this might sound a little weird, but it's nice to know I'm not the only one who has family issues. Sure, I feel like I couldn't live without them, but it's not exactly all good..." She'd leave it at that. At this point, he didn't need to know anything else.
It was a refreshing change, also, to hear him actually be okay with her not saying more about her past. For some reason, she'd thought most people would be trying to push her to say everything that happened....probably just because of those long hours trying to deal with the detectives and police that had showed up when what had been going on had finally been found out. She barely answered them, and they got frustrated, even if they couldn't show more than light disappointment.
"I appreciate hearing that. I'm pretty sure I'll tell you one day....it's just kind of hard to get into right now. But you're right....makes things easier sometimes, keeping things quiet..." She smiled gently and nodded in agreement.

Samuel chuckled, I'm sure there are lots of people who have family issues, Anne. In fact, i doubt there's a single family who doesn't have at least one issue. Nobody's perfect, after all. He smiled, glad that Annie seemed to like him. She had said that she would tell him her family issues at some point, which meant they would be meeting up again. Maybe this making friends thing wasn't too bad after all!
You don't have to tell me anything you don't want to. Not now or not ever, he smiled reassuringly, not wanting her to feel pressured into anything. He knew what it was like to keep secrets from people, and despite it almost being a form of lying, it was just easier.
Sometimes people don't understand... You think you can trust them and then they turn their backs on you. He sighed, running a hand through his hair and making it stick up on end. But anyway, we've only just met. Maybe we should talk about something more...uplifting.... Like..umm..the weather? He chuckled, nervously, realising that the weather wasn't exactly an 'uplifting' topic of conversation.
- so sorry it's so late! Been on holiday in the middle of nowhere with no internet for a week! -

Annie couldn't help but smile at his statement, adjusting her position in the chair that she was sitting in. Part of her was craving folding (only because staying in one place for so long was a little difficult for her when it came to new people for some reason), but something told her it would be rude of her to continue fiddling with paper. Like he'd think she was giving off some signal she wasn't really giving off and he'd just leave. God. Why was this suddenly so hard?
"Well, you're really sweet, Sam," Did he want to be called Sam? Was that even an okay thing? She shook her head softly, "I uh. Tell me if you never want to be called that again."
I know what you mean about people, though....it's quite a weird phenomenon, isn't it?" She didn't know why she was letting herself say something like that. She was letting herself be negative when usually she tried to be all cheerful. She shook her head. Maybe she could recover from it. Maybe he wouldn't notice. "Heh, I never quite understood the whole small-talk thing. I mean. It baffles me how people can have such long conversations about nothing...." No, apparently she was going to stay the way she was. "I dunno. What kind of movies do you like?" that worked, right? It was at least something.
((I understand~
I'm sorry my reply to your reply was slower than usual XD I've been. distracted. also. sorry if this is. nonsensical.))

Samuel smiled, fiddling with his half-eaten apple. He wasn't really that hungry, but thought it would have looked odd if he was sat in the Food Court, on his own, with no food. His nerves were getting the better of him and when he was nervous, he didn't eat. Despite already being reasonably skinny, Samuel was sure that if he wasn't careful, he would lose a lot of weight whilst at college. Perhaps he could get Vinny to help to remind him to eat.
You can call me Sam, I don't really mind. Sometimes it's just easier to have a one syllable name! People seem to automatically shorten names anyway! He chuckled lightly, having never been one for having a nickname. But he didn't mind Sam, not when he was in a good mood. On an off day though...he wasn't too sure how he would react to the name.
I know! I can never understand how people have that much to talk about. i suppose if you find a common interest you could talk for hours together, he said, shrugging his shoulders. Hmmm movies.. I'm not a huge fan of watching films to be honest... I'm more of a book person. But if i had to pick a genre it would probably be fantasy and maybe the occasional psychological thriller. What about you?
