OVERALL PERSONALITY :

• Tico's the type of guy who doesn't really let things get to him easily. He very rarely is openly emotional. Things like being insulted, fighting with friends, he just breathes that out like it were a bad blunt. The thing about him, though, is that he'd never intentionally hurt someone else. He just doesn't understand how people can be flat-out rude to one another. He's got way too big of a conscience for that. Then again, no one's ever really tried to get at his nerves before, he's used to ignoring those types of people. What he'd do if someone constantly got to him, well, that's a mystery at the moment. He'd like it to stay that way.
  
  
  One reason Tico's so easy to befriend is the fact that it doesn't take much to make him laugh. Your joke may be cheesy and lame, but Tico's probably going to find it funny- mostly because he's high, and over-all amused with everything. He has a tendency to goof around a lot too. His teachers are constantly having to ask him to quiet down in the back of the room. The reason he's usually at the back of the room is because school, to him, is just not that important. He goes to school to hang around friends and get a free lunch, that's about it. His thinking is, he might not even make it to eighteen, why work for something people can't even achieve until their twenties?
  
  
  Tico can tend to get into some...pretty interesting situations, the type of situations that parents tend to ask about. He doesn't really get away with much, not because he doesn't try to. He's just a terrible liar. Good thing he's never gotten into any legal trouble, the cops would have him in hand-cuffs in no time.

OVERALL HISTORY :

Tico only spent a year of his life in Chicago. His brother, Reggie, remembers it, though. They moved to Las Vegas only about eighteen months into Tico's life and settled into one of the newer and growing neighborhoods. Rent was low, which obviously meant that the neighborhood wasn't a particularly nice one.

People lose family members all the time where he lives, mostly the young ones- the ones who like to get themselves mixed in with the wrong group of kids. Luckily Tico's learned his lesson before it was him. Unfortunately, he learned his lesson the hard way.

His brother, Reggie, was always his role model, he looked up to him just about as much as he looked up to their father. Reggie wasn't bad, he was just tired of school and authority, and he made a bad decision. Tico was the only one who knew about Reggie joining and he was sworn to secrecy on it. He kept the secret reluctantly, but didn't think anything would go wrong. His mind was changed the day his mom got a call from the downtown police department.

Tico was almost thirteen when Reggie was killed in the drive-by, old enough to feel completely responsible for not having told his parents and possibly prevented the whole thing. His parents, of course, don't blame him. Still, losing Reggie that way made him feel like things should have happened differently, like maybe he should have just been a snitch one time. So what if Reggie hated him for it for a little while? He'd at least still be there.

Tico doesn't talk a lot about Reggie anymore, but he'll never call himself an only child.

He spent all of high school struggling with a little something else, though. His sexuality. It wasn't until Junior year that he mustered up the nerve to tell his parents that he was gay.

His military father didn't take that news so well and left for a few months, refusing to have contact with the boy. It was only recently that the two got back on speaking terms. His father realized the error of his ways before Tico was heading off to college and spent the next month apologizing.

Tico still hasn't fully forgiven his father and usually only speaks to his mother when he calls to check in with them. He's getting there, though.
