Okay so here's the deal, basically I've been browsing other sites and seeing what kind of chat boxes they have and some of them are a little more advanced that ours are.
So I thought I'd get your view on what we could do to make them a little more user friendly.
The first is basically to update the existing cbox to the premium ones. Our current stats are:

for the ooc, so it looks like it would be a decent investment. The main downside is that it costs $6 for three months (£4-ish). Which is only $2 a month (idk 70p?)
With the premium box you get higher character count (so you won't have to split posts in two), auto refresh when someone posts and a warning sound as well. As well as a load of other things (which can be found here)
We can set up a donation system so if anyone wants to chip in, they can. But otherwise I don't mind paying for the first 3 months as a trial and see how we like it? or if it's not working for us?
OR.
we can get a 'chatango' chat box which is another type of box where you have to sign up for an account, but will ultimately do pretty much the same as the cbox above. But it will be run by flash, which can't be open on ipods/ipads etcetc. It can also take a long time to load and doesn't have as much coding (and doesn't look as nice)
OR.
we could just leave it as it is and not change anything.
