They hadn't talked since Rufio has kissed him. They would look away when they passed each other, arms crossed over their chests as if protecting themselves from each other. They didn't even look at each other anymore. Rufio was to embarrassed. He didn't look up in any of his classes, just in case Micah walked passed the door. All of his free time was spent in his garden. He hadn't really talked to anyone. He'd even shut off Olivia, having been convinced that she had told Micah how he felt.

But enough was enough. Rufio missed his friend, and he didn't care if his heart broke in the process, he was going to get him back. But how? Rufio couldn't just stop him in the corridor and blurt it out. He didn't want to embarrass either of them. Instead he cycled out of town to the larger lake, spread out for miles reflecting the mountains around it. Dumping his bike on the shore, he stepped into the water, letting it soak his feet and ankles. What was he going to do with himself?

Biting his lip he pulled out his phone and slid it open, getting Micah's number up. He would send a message. Then if Micah wanted to know he would come and if he didn't, neither of them got embarrassed in front of their peers.

Hey Micah... well, it was a start, I'm at lake mead and I want my best friend back. Please find me. I miss you. Ru

Rufio sent the message, not looking back. Settling himself down by his bike he leant back, pulling a packet of cigarettes out of his pocket and lighting up. Inhaling slowly, he looked out over the lake, places like this always felt calm. That was probably why he always ended up by the lake. At least now he wouldn't lose his mind when Micah told him that he wasn't coming...or something.

Surprisingly, things had been getting easier for Micah. The only thing that really bothered him was the fact that one of his best friends, Ru, really liked him, not only that ,but the kiss that happened on the quad on campus. The worse thing was that Micah was more than likely breaking Ru's heart ,and he knew exactly how that felt so it was was completely terrible that he might have been giving the same pain he, himself feared to someone he loved as a friend.

Micah had been in the shower for about thirty minutes, because once again, he was playing the repair man earlier that morening, and the job had left him dripping of sweat. Turning off the water, Micah got out of the shower just in time to hear his phone beep in his room. He pulled on a towel around his waist then read the message from Ru, and immediatly his heart tightened and ached. The only thing he texted back was "I miss you too..". He was really sure why he didn't just say that'd he'd meet him at Lake Mead, but it was the truth. Micah did miss him, cause that was like his best friend.

After a few seconds of getting ready very quickly and in a hurry Micah was speeding down the road. He wasn't really sure why his heart ached, either he'd felt more for Ru, or he just felt bad that he hurt him, but he was pretty sure it was the second thing he'd thought it might be. Once he was there, he found Ru rather quickly, sitting on the sand, so he drew a deep shakey breath and went and sat by him in silence as he stared at the lake. Right now, he was so nervous he couldn't speak. Nervous that he had no idea how this conversation would go between the two, but it was time to face reality.

Rufio was blowing smoke rings by the time he realized Micah was beside him. He smiled at the other boy, offering him a cigarette from his packet. Looking back down for a moment he crossed his legs, letting his shoes slip off and his toes bury in the sand.

So umm, Rufio began, running his fingers over the sand. I just wanted to apologise. Looking out to the lake he finished his cigarette, and flicked it into a nearby bin.

I shouldn't have done...what I did. It was stupid, Rufio turned and punched Micah lightly on the shoulder, a half-smile on his face. Leaning back on his elbows, he sighed, tucking his hair over one shoulder to stop the sand finding it's way in. I just want my friend back, if that's alright with you? he asked, biting his lip and almost dreading the answer.

He didn't want Micah to worry about him, about the whole 'being in love' problem. Rufio knew that he could just keep it hidden, he was used to hiding things like that. Besides Micah, Rufio had only fallen for on other person, who had lead him on before dumping him after four years. To Rufio, knowing where he stood right from the beginning was much better. He could start forgetting his feelings now, rather than when they were building up.

Arching a brow Micah watched Ru try to be talented with smoke before shaking his head at the offer and looking back out to the lake.

Micah listened, and found out this would be easy. He wanted to object and say he wasn't stupid, but letting the boy talk until he was through was a better option. Rolling his head around Micah popped his neck then nodded. Looks like we are friends then. Micah knew that this would only make things harder for Ru. Just because of the fact they would be around each other more, but he would see how it went anyways, and if he thought it was going badly, then he'd have to start blowing off from his best friend or talk to him about it. God, Micah was starting become horrible here.
