Julia was born in New York to a couple who just decided they weren't ready for a kid yet. They put her up for adoption, where she was picked up by Mallory Wilson, a woman who couldn't have children on her own. She was treated really well, though there were some times when they would butt heads (mostly about her need to grow up).
Trying to get away from some stresses in her life, Mallory decided it would be good for the both of them to move to Vegas. She had a few friends there (a girlfriend, specifically) that she hadn't seen in ages, and she thought they'd be good people for Julia to be around.
Grade school was a bit of a bother because she constantly seemed to be making friends who would later spread rumors about her. High School was rather easy for Julia to just kind of cruise by without really making too many permanent friends, and where she basically learned about her appreciation for the couple of drugs she actually cares about. She probably wouldn't have gotten into college if one of her mom's friends hadn't offered to pay for it saying she'd have better luck getting a job, but since the offer was put out there, she took it happily.

Julia still wasn't sure how she was able to talk herself into waking up so early for classes every day. It wasn't like she got a full nights' rest, and she wasn't too great to be around when she hadn't had any coffee of any kind....so why had she shown up?
Whatever. Lunch time always seemed to make up for it. She wandered out of her class a little bit before anyone else had (always the first one to get her area clear), reached into her bag and pulled out her mp3 player, putting on some music. A slight bit of her wondered if she actually had money for any kind of food today, or if she'd just be in it for talking to other people that showed up at her table.
Yeah. Yeah. She had money. She'd checked a bit earlier.
After getting the food she was still pleasantly surprised about no matter how many times she was going to have to deal with it, Julia took a seat, continuing to listen to her music. There was a part of her that told her she should really be trying to socialize, but not knowing the area made her pause.
Instead of sitting next to the most trusted-to-be-interesting person she could spot, she decided today she would be by the window, observing as she ate. She'd get a bit more information that way. Get someone interested in what she had to say with a common interest. She just had to listen.
