"I want the pillar to be there, alright? And the platform...here...and I want it to look good, got that?" Joseph French nodded happily at the strict teacher, who had, for the last half an hour made sure he understood exactly where everything would be. He didn't mind though, this was his element; designing and creating beautiful works of art for people to look at, and in this case, jump around and dance on. That's what he lives for. He took his sketch pad and walked back to the last few rows of seats in the auditorium, choosing one that would have a decent view of the stage. With quick strokes, he traced out the stage in light grey, and began drawing in the set pieces he knew about.
He was supposed to sit through the auditions and focus on lighting; how well it lit the actor's face, how to get rid of the shadows that were coming from the wrong way, and the types of gels he would want for coloring when it came to actually working with the instruments. But he found his attention drifting back onto the actors and actresses themselves. The blonde girl was dominating the audition, he could tell right away. The other girls seemed too frightened to anywhere near as risky as she did, doing voices and using her entire body as she played the roles. The male counterparts were nothing extraordinary, though there were a few very good-looking boys that make Joey wish he had an extensive scarf collection too. He kept letting his eyes drift back to the blonde, as his lips turned upward in a sly smirk.
"FRENCH!" The director called back to him, startling him out of his daydream. "See where Bridgette is standing-Bridgette, wave your hand-I want more light on that spot for the show!" The blonde girl followed directions and waved back to him, drawing a sloppy smile from Joey. Bridgette, was it? He thought coyly, while hiking a thumbs up to the teacher and circling the area that would need more light, before returning to the state of staring at the blonde girl and drooling. (Well, not actually, but he wasn't too far from that point..)
After the auditions ended, Joey moved quickly to catch up with her. The director, who was busy yelling at someone for having gum in the auditorium, didn't notice him sneak by, which was what Joey was hoping for. She was about to turn a corner, as he grabbed her elbow.
"Hi, I'm Joey,"
Smooth.
"I couldn't help but notice what an amazingly gifted actress you are, Bridgette, right? I mean you totally smoked the competition back there," He complimented her, winking as he gathered a few glares from the other girls who had auditioned. "I'm helping design the set, so if there's anything you need, just let me know," Joey said, with a wide smile.
