HARRY'S DISLIKES :

• being gay. he's really having a struggle with that; harry's a simple country boy with simple expectations of what life should be like, and checking out effeminate boys from the dance department really is not on that list at all. he's still pretty far back in the closet, and it's sort of eating him up inside.
  
• bullying. which is ironic, since he's only ever been in the position of 'bully' when it comes to the bullies vs the bullied. but he's always felt guilty and miserable and weak about it; he's been on the football team since his freshman year of high school, and there are always at least a few dickheads involved in that sport, especially in the small town high school where he went to school. he still feels pressured to treat certain people a certain way and he rightly hates it; even more, he hates that he's too weak to just not.
  
• assumptions. he's a dumb jock; people make assumptions about him all the time, and even if they are often correct, he still hates feeling judged by people who don't know him.
  
• academics. he's not the sharpest tool in the shed; he does okay in history and he's pretty good at speaking spanish, though he's still a beginner, but he struggles in most of his classes. especially math. if it weren't for his calculus tutor he'd be a goner. in more than one way, too~
  
• feelings. he's a man. ...also they're confusing and most of the time they just make him miserable.
  
• most of the females he hangs out with. it's not really their fault, and it's not really his fault either; he's not a woman hater. it's just that he knows they have certain expectations of him as a seemingly heterosexual man, and he also knows on some level that he can't fulfill those expectations and well... that just sort of makes shit awkward.
  
• his hometown. he hates going home; it doesn't really feel like a home anymore, more like a prison for him, and he gets pretty depressed every time he has to hop the plane to go back to his little no-where colorado town.
  
• himself. he's had a difficult few years.

HARRY'S LIKES :

• football. he loves to play the game, and he's not the quaterback for nothing; he's pretty good. there's no way he'd make it the pro leagues, but he has a passion for playing. it's the one place where he feels comfortable in his own skin.
  
• smart people. harrison probably won't admit it, seeing as he gives a lot of 'nerds' hell, but he really prefers to hang out with people who are smarter than he is. he feels like he learns something new all the time and it makes him feel better about being a "meat head football player".
  
• cuddling.
  
• the outdoors. harrison can get restless, and he's always felt claustrophobic from being indoors for too long at a time. he spends a lot of his studying time outside at the park as opposed to the library, and it's pretty tough to keep him inside once the weather warms up and summer comes around. what can i say he can't be tamed.
  
• dogs.
  
• brave people. he admires anyone who's brave enough to be exactly who they are without compromising themselves for others. he envies them.
  
• people in general. as long as he's not feeling too uncomfortable, out of place, or self-conscious.
  
• self-confidence. seeing as he has so little of it himself, it's a pretty major turn on.

WEAKNESS :

• tears. turn on the water works and harrison will literally do anything in his power to make them stop. he can't stand it when people cry, especially women and children. he straight up panics.
  
• effeminate boys. he can't help it, they get him every time.

STRENGTHS :

• sweet. the boy really does have a heart of gold; even when he's at his worst, chances are his heart's in the right place and the rest of him is just ignoring it and hurting for it.
  
• simple. not always seen as a strength, but harry is not a complicated guy (his 'issue' notwithstanding). he's down to earth, mostly honest, and not difficult to please in the least. he's just kind of the average joe, sweet and simple and not a hurricane of emotions or complications.
  
• modest. he doesn't think a whole lot of himself, and he's never been the type to brag. he's too soft-spoken for that; he prefers to listen rather than tell.

OVERALL PERSONALITY :

• conflicted. harrison is definitely not at a point where he can be even remotely okay with his sexuality - but he is at the point where he's agonizingly aware of it every second of every day. so essentially he's just in the shittiest psychological place possible when it comes to being comfortable with who he is and what he wants. he's constantly second-guessing himself, he's always afraid he's going to give himself away, and he's in a constant battle between what he knows he should be and what he hates to admit that he actually is.
  
• kind-hearted. harry's a good kid; he's got a big, generous heart and most of all of the ugliness in him comes from the fear he has of who he is. he never goes about with bad intentions, though things often spiral out of his control. he's like a lamb stuck in the body of a cornered lion. /LOL metaphors.
  
• dense. he's got a heart of gold, but he's not the sharpest tool in the shed. he's skated through school mostly because of football, and he struggles quite a bit with academics, especially math. harry's just sorta'... adorably dumb. i mean, he's not vapid per say, but he's a simple guy and he sometimes has trouble grasping things that aren't simple. like life.
  
• immature. if you haven't already guessed it, harry's kind of like a giant eight year old. he's got the emotional capacity of a tea spoon and when he does get overwhelmed, it usually ends badly because he doesn't know how to express himself. he can throw quite the bitch fit at times though he can usually contain his emotions into some epic sulk as opposed to lashing out. his pout can tumble mountains, though. watch out.
  
• inarticulate. the only way harry's ever been able to vent his feelings is through physical action - usually he just vents it all into football. it's a great stress reliever, all that tackling and running and throwing and head butting. however, he's never really learned how to talk to people, especially about feelings. he has a really hard time trying to put his feelings into words and it usually just ends with him clamming up and getting frustrated.
  
• shy. well, he's not much of a talker, and he knows it - he's at times startlingly self-aware, and he knows where his weaknesses are. because of this he's a lot quieter than people initially expect considering his possession on the team and the gang he usually hangs around with. he enjoys being around people, and he's pretty content with his friends and his place in the social hierarchy (except of course when he thinks too long or too hard about his little secret; that generally just flushes everything down the shit hole), but he does sort of tend to stick to the sidelines as opposed to hogging the spotlight. his shyness isn't too much of a problem unless there's someone involved that he has ~feelings~ for, in which case harry will turn into a thirteen year old girl and possibly try hiding from said person behind the nearest available thing, even if it's just a potted plant.
  
• easily manipulated. he's big, he's dumb, he's immature, and he's pretty, and harry doesn't even realize how often people in his circle of friends take advantage of that. it's not hard to manipulate the guy, and he often ends up doing shit for people and wondering how the hell they got him into it, and then realizing, oh right, i'm a dumbass. and then continuing on because he'd probably feel bad if he left it unfinished after he agreed to it, wouldn't you?
  
• wistful/day dreamy. harry's a space cadet. he spends a lot of time locked inside his own thoughts, whether he's preoccupied with his various inner turmoils or just lost in a daydream that carried him away somewhere. he sort of floats away from reality sometimes and floats to his ideal world where he has a certain boy on his arm and everything's awesome and he has like ten dogs and lives in a mansion and plays football all day long. and it's awesome.
  
• easily distracted. attention span of a small rodent. 'nough said.
  
• loving. harry's got a lot of love; he just doesn't know where to put it. if he could find the right person to love, by god they'd be one of the most loved people out there.

alright; harry's history FAST MODE.
he's an only child of two feverishly christian parents who adore him as the strong male zion that he is supposed to be. they expect a blond wife and several blond children and an impressive career in football. he would in all likelihood be disowned if his parents - particularly his father - knew about his sexual orientation.
he discovered he was gay in his last two years of high school and has essentially managed to hide the fact that he's dissolved into a nervous wreck since then. he focuses most of his energies on school and football and exhausts himself so he can sleep (because otherwise his thoughts would undoubtably keep him up, living a lie does that to you).
