  -the Scy Fy channel (no matter how much he wishes he could like it, he just hates that it changed its' name for fantasy and wrestling to be allowed on it)
  -most movie adaptations of comics
  -the fact that sequels seem to be made for everything

• -Sci Fi

• -to become a writer

• -he actually pretty much hates his writing, but he thinks if he acts full of himself enough, someone will like it.
  -He can't read sarcasm, he just somehow knows how to use it.

WEAKNESS :

• -crowds
  -interacting with the opposite sex (especially romantically)

STRENGTHS :

• -writing
  -schoolwork in general

OVERALL PERSONALITY :

• *Awkward
  No matter how hard he tries to play it off, Derek is a very awkward guy. From hitting on girls the wrong way to trying to handle himself in crowds, it's pretty much a disaster. It's a wonder he has friends at all.
  
  *Sarcastic
  His main language is sarcasm. It's the only way he can handle most conversations, especially when it comes to things he really doesn't care about.
  
  *Nerdy
  Derek is all about Sci Fi, and he'll rant for hours about it if you let him. He also has a pretty large collection of comic books and old 50's science fiction movies (along with basically all of Mystery Science Theater 3000). Most likely, if you're into this kind of thing, he'll love you forever.
  
  *Opinionated
  Derek is one of those kinds of people who think that his opinion about anything is always right. Sometimes, he'll even get offended if someone thinks the opposite way. Really, though, he's only this way about various media. When it comes to serious issues, he tends to be pretty open minded.
  
  *Loyal
  He may not have too many friends, but the ones he has, he'll stick with no matter what happens. He'll do whatever it takes to help you, even if it means going through something he really can't stand.
  
  *Paranoid
  He may not show it much, but Derek tends to think people are out to ruin him. No matter how much he may be accepted into a group, he tends to think they're /really/ just going to make a fool of him somehow. This makes the social thing kind of hard.
  
  *Imaginative
  Most of Derek's time is spent thinking up highly scientific future worlds or writing up characters for Tabletop role play games. He doesn't know if any of them are particularly good or not, but it makes him so happy to go through the process anyway.
  
  *Quiet
  Derek tends to stick to himself most of the time, lost in a book or trying to write himself. It's very rare that he will talk himself into joining any kind of parties or being around other people, but he does try when he feels he can. It just takes a while.
  
  *Sensitive
  He hates to admit it, but Derek's actually a pretty sensitive guy. He gets kind of emotionally involved sometimes when a friend of his is going through trouble, and really can't take too harsh of criticism. He can hide it mostly, but sometimes it still shows.
  
  *Picky
  Derek can't really help it—he's not that easy a person to please. Food has to be just right, movies have to have just the right kind of writing, music has to be a certain amount of complexity in order for him to stand it. Otherwise, he's pretty much suffering through it.
  

SUBJECTS :

• -Creative Writing
  Of course he'd be taking creative writing. Writing is the only thing that keeps him sane. Part of him thinks a degree in something like this would make his soon-to-be novel easier to be published.
  
  -Theatre
  He's not really in the class for the acting, but he likes the thought of doing sets for plays, or even editing scripts. He can't really perform anything to save his life.

OVERALL HISTORY :

Derek was born in Seattle WA on 8/10/1991. His parents were very distant from one another, but they tried their best to keep their relationship for their son. He didn't take the divorce too well, even at age 16, when they thought he'd be grown up enough to 'get it'. His father ended up getting custody, since his mother didn't seem to want too much to do with the whole parenting deal.


School was kind of a struggle for him up until high school, when he actually started to feel somewhat challenged by the work. His father didn't really believe him the first time he brought home a lot of good grades, but soon, ended up enjoying the fact that he finally seemed to embrace the smarts he had. He probably would've helped pay for a college somewhere far away if Derek had wanted it, but it seemed being far away from home wasn't really an option.

Derek quickly learned to adore the college teaching system, appreciating the fact that apparently people were more mature here than anywhere else he'd had to deal with. School work was surprisingly not all of his life and actually gave him some time to do the things he thought were important. Even with the problem of finding a group of people to fit into, he was able to grab himself a few friends. He hopes things will keep looking up the way they seem to.
