Tavo bit his lip as he tried to steady his hand. Why couldn’t locking a door be easy? It made him even more of a freak. The fact that he never wanted to turn his back to anyone because he was so frightened that a jock would run by and slam his head into the wall calling him a fag and laughing at him, maybe even picking at him for the way he dressed. There were episodes in his life that he’d had a few asthma attacks from just thinking there was someone out to get him. Being in a new place didn’t help him either. To this day, Tavo regretted letting Fanta and his dads talk him into moving to the states.
Being sure that he’d left teeth marks in his lip Tavo wiggled the knob of his dorm door making sure that it was locked and made his way to the library. Studying was all he lived for anyways now that he was in the States. No one knew him except Fanta and his neighbor Benji. The people were rude, and everyone did drugs, which Tavo just couldn’t understand why. The whole atmosphere was a throw off to him.
Or maybe he was just finding an excuse to want to go back to Rio and see Andrew.
That’s all his thoughts would go back to. Andrew. It was pathetic to even wonder about the same things he’d always had. Did he miss him? Did he really love him? Did he wish he could start over with them? The answer was no, but Tavo just liked to pretend that Andrew was back in Rio planning a way to find out where Tavo was and fly over to reunite them both with a long kiss in the middle of a rainfall. Nope. Would never happen but the boy could dream couldn’t he?
As Tavo walked into the library he was glad to find no one there really, and most of all no jocks. He’d already asked around for when tutoring was and found out the scheduled day when all of the jerks would be scattered around the place trying to understand something besides violence and holding some type of ball.
Chewing on the inside of his cheek, Tavo scurried off to the section he needed to begin looking in first, picking each book off the shelf and looking at the title carefully and placing them back just as carefully so he couldn’t make to much noise and attract any attention towards him.

Benji's days had been getting better, since his encounter with Tobi on the roof of the palms he'd decided to get his act together. Simon - unfortunately - had been right, he didn't need Percy. He wasn't sure he even wanted Percy after the way he had been treated. But either way he had downed the last of his alcohol and sold off the remains of his drugs. They weren't an attractive trait, and you could have fun without them, and remember it the next day!
So as Benji caught up on his missed homework, essays and projects he had stumbled, quite literally, over someone moving in next door. Gustavo. From Rio. Benji couldn't help but smile around the other boy, he was just so...dorky in the most adorable way. He had made sure that Tavo had all the help he needed moving in and had even offered to give the other boy a grand tour. Well, if they were going to be living next to each other, they might as well be friends.
That morning, Benji had gathered some clothes, thrown them on and headed out of the door - he had Poptarts and Kool aid on his mind - just as Tavo disappeared down the corridor. Benji frowned for a moment, debating on whether he should get his food or follow his friend. He settled with the latter, grabbed his laptop and a notebook, and followed Tavo to one of the rooms Benji had always tried to avoid. The Library.
It wasn't that Benji didn't like reading - on the contrary, he loved to read - but he was doing a music Major, and the library didn't like noise. Still, if he'd managed to have sex in one in high school then he was sure as hell going to manage a conversation in one.
Looking down every aisle, Benji wondered if Tavo had actually come in, until he found the boy looking at the more complicated looking books. Putting his belongings down on a nearby table, Benji perched on the edge and cleared his throat - subtle.
Don't you ever take a break from studying? he asked, a smile on his face to show he wasn't being serious.

Tavo's anxiety started to ease as the time passed by and he was in the quiet room reading and scanning through books he might need to take back to the dorm and study with. Studying and learning constantly was a relief to him. It made him think hard about everything he was studying instead of the problems he had brought with him from Rio. He kind of wished his dads lived down the street so he could go and cry to them every time he needed to but now he was stuck here. Alone, since Fanta had began spending so much time with that drug addict Ryan.
Shifting his weight from one leg to another, Tavo tapped his fingertip with his tongue and turned the page scanning the information with full concentration, that was until he heard a voice right next to him. He'd jumped about ten feet into the air, and looked up with big brown panicked eyes to see a tall smiling Benji. Sighing a huge breath of relief Tavo rolled his eyes and pressed his forehead to the bookshelf regaining himself again before turning to Benji and just lightly shoving him.
"You scared me, Ben!" Shaking his head he looked back down at the book trying to find his place where he'd left off and mumbled "No I don't ever take a break from studying." A smile then crept onto his face. A bright one. "Unless you come knocking on my door wanting to play xbox or go out. That is when I take a break." He said before looking back up at Benji.
Arching a brow slightly, Tavo shut the book and inhaled smell of the old pages before leaning onto the book shelf."What has you here anyways? Don't you hate the library?"

Benji chuckled lightly as Tavo jumped and managed to stay on his feet as he was shoved lightly in the other direction. Sorry! he exclaimed, moving next to Tavo and looking over his shoulder at the large complicated book in the boy's hands. Biting his lip he saw the smile on Tavo's face and couldn't help but return it. Did this boy even realise how adorable he looked?
Taking the book from Tavo's hands he put it down on the nearby table and took the other boy's fingers in his own. Well, here I am, wanting to go out with you. So you have to leave this book behind, he said with a sigh, shrugging his shoulders. Those are the rules now, no studying when I'm around you~
Tugging Tavo towards him he kept a hold of the boy's hand and began leading him out of the library. He chuckled when Tavo asked if he hated the library, No, he began, stopping for a moment to look at the bother boy, but I'm far more interested in you than I will ever be in marine biology. Starbucks? Or we could go see a movie? he asked. It almost sounded like a date.

Like a brand new toy was to a child. A Marine Biology book was to Tavo. His eyes stared the book down as Benji had taken it away from him then he looked up at the boy with eyes showing he didn't understand why he would do something like that, but then Benji fixed it all when he started speaking. A wide smile then spread across Tavo's face and all was well.
Tavo didn't think that Percy knew what he'd let go of. Benji was charming, and funny, and past the line that attractive could go for, he was protective and cared so much. The list could go on and on, but then again, maybe Tavo was the only one who thought he was so perfect.
Tavo eyed their hands. It was a nice feeling in his heart. Something that reminded him of Andrew, but that thought faded a way quickly and was back replaced with the thought of Benji. He smiled a soft secretive smile and ran his thumb over the others warm hand. Could it be that Tavo already cared so much for Benji and he'd just gotten here? Yeah, it was possible for a boy with a heart as big as his, but for Benji not so likely.
"I want to see a movie, and I want to sit in the back row. So we are mostly alone." Tavo replied with a serious tone eyeing Benji's eyes. He wouldn't mind labeling this as a date, but he wouldn't say anything until Benji said it was or wasn't. Whatever Benji wanted, Tavo would give.

Benji grinned at Tavo and pulled the boy closer to him so he could swing his arms over the other's shoulders. Movie it is then, he said simply. He lead the way to the cinema, making small-talk about how Tavo was finding his new environment, how he missed Rio and how they would both go back one day on holiday - it wasn't like Benji didn't have the money to spend on a vacation like that.
Arriving at the movie theatre, Benji finally dropped his arm from around Tavo's shoulder and went to pay for two tickets to whatever film happened to be showing next. Benji loathed to find it was Breaking Dawn, but he bought the tickets anyway. He hadn't bothered to see it during it's first release - he couldn't even remember if he'd seen Twilight. Never-the-less, he paid for the popcorn before Tavo could and lead the boy into the almost completely deserted theatre.
Benji only saw one old couple as he made his way to the back row. It was perfect. He smiled as Tavo sat next to him and handed over the sweet popcorn - but not before taking a handful for himself. So...which 'team' are you on? Jacob or Edward? he asked with a grin as he reached over for some more popcorn.
