HISTORY: it became very clear fairly early in cooper's life he was not developing like other boys and girls. he was diagnosed with asperger syndrome when he was six. although he was always exceptionally bright, especially when it came to reading and writing, he had difficulty connecting with other people socially. he didn't talk much until maybe first grade and even then he was quiet and reserved. he didn't talk or interact well with other children; he developed an intense social anxiety in his middle school years. in high school he began to act out more aggressively and he's been tentatively diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, which explains his almost bipolar symptoms. his emotional pendulum is limited when it comes to empathizing and connecting to other people, but he slips into violent emotional delusions randomly or when he's under a lot of stress. at times he hallucinates. alright. sorry. his diagnoses kind of needed its own little paragraph or two, seeing as most of his history was directly affected by his disorders. his mother died when he was young of ovarian cancer and his father never really knew what to do with him. he excelled in school but often ended up in the principle's office because of his inability to interact appropriately with his classmates. as he got older, he became more prone to running with his "manic" episodes (a result of his schizoaffective disorder) and getting violent/doing a lot of drugs/getting tattoos/staying up for days at a time to write. he still goes a little wild whenever his disorder gets out of control - this is often the only time people ever see him, since he's somewhat of a recluse. he doesn't have many friends because he doesn't get along well with other people in general. he is fiercely devoted to writing even though he is constantly dissatisfied with the work that he produces. he spends most of his time 'working' which is either writing or reading in his apartment.
