1 Corinthians 6:19-20 - "Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body." Casper ran his orange highlighter over the passage with a sigh. He couldn't understand it, why would anyone want to destroy their own body with alcohol...or worse.
He turned his head and looked at the half empty packet of cigarettes Perry Buchanon had forced into his hands. They were half empty because of Perry, not because of Casper. Though he had given his parents quite a fright when he had walked into the house with them in his hand - he pointed out that if he was smoking which he wasn't he wouldn't have had them out in broad daylight where they could see.
They took this as a viable explanation and let him get on with hit 'social experiment' alone. The good thing about being Casper was that his parents were very trusting - that may be due to the fact he had never done anything wrong by them in his life. He hadn't even skipped school! Not once!
Casper bit his lip and stabbed absent-mindedly at his noodles, why was this bothering him so much? The fact that Perry had merely laughed at him and walked away? No - that happened to Casper all the time. Maybe it was because for a moment, Perry had listened...even if he didn't care what Casper had to say.
The blonde bit his tongue and continued to swirl his fork around without actually eating. Returning to his Bible, he flicked through some more pages to find something else that might sooth him.
Ephesians 5:18 - "Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit," Not really what he was looking for...though it did remind him that he had to help with communion. With another sigh he leant back in his chair.
Why couldn't he get this guy off his mind? Was it because he wanted to help him? Or was there something...
Casper looked up as more people entered the food court, his eyes scanning for someone he knew could help him. With a grin he waved to his best friend from across the room.
Hey! Tiff! Over here, he called, making a few strange movements to get her attention.
Now the next stage...how on earth was he going to tell her about his meeting with Perry? Quickly he hid the cigarettes, putting them safely in his pocket.
