Vinny hadn't really been out on his own for a while. He had stuck close to Samuel and made sure that he wasn't pushed into any lockers, or thrown into any garbage bins. So far it had works and the people that had bullied him in the past and learnt to stay clear of him - just in case Samuel was nearby to beat them up. It was nice, having your own bodyguard. But Vinny had reached the stage where he needed to make more friends, and not just have everyone scared of him (or Samuel).
Gathering up his bag he headed out of his dorm room, eyes scanning the corridors, looking for the first signs of the bullies - luckily they seemed to be enjoying the sunshine and he made it out of the dormitories and into the street without any troubles.
It took him a few moments to think of where to go - the pet shop? Nah, he'd been there recently and he sill had the fish he'd bought the first time. Plus he knew he would spend all his pocket money on fish in he could. So instead he headed in the opposite direction and found himself outside the arcade. e could hear the ringing of the high scores and the cheers as people won cuddly toys or more money.
With a grin and not a second thought he walked through the door and into the bright flashing lights. There were already lots of people taking out zombie invasions or racing each other across deserts. Vinny preferred the prize games. The grabbers especially, where you had to direct the claw to get the toy. But he wasn't very good at it. He always managed to get an arm, or a leg, never the whole toy.
But that didn't stop him trying.
Reaching into his pocket he pulled out a few coins, pressing them into the slot and resting his hands on the buttons. C'mon, he said to himself, waiting for the green light to say he could go.
Sadly, after three attempts, he hadn't won the toy. It stared up at him with it's fluffy face, making him want it even more. Just one more go, he reasoned with himself as he put more money into the machine.
