Julian had never been much of a drinker. He preferred to stay home and read a book or get some study done rather than go out and ‘get wasted’ or whatever it was being called now, but things were getting desperate. The more time he spent around Henry, the more confused he got, and really, he just needed to blow off some steam.
Enter Aly. Aly was nice, and spending time with her was a lot less confusing than spending time with Henry. Because of her general femaleness, keeping his relationship with her platonic was fairly simple. Especially when compared with the mess that was his feelings toward Henry.
By the time he reached the bar, Julian was too terrified to get up. He ordered a glass of white wine and sat with his eyes trained on the door, waiting for Aly to come on through. Mercy wasn’t overly crowded, but embarrassingly, this was Julian’s first time at a bar. Ever. He didn’t usually have much cause to go to bars, and had refused adamantly on the few times his sister had tried to drag him along.
“You okay, Kid?” The Bartender asked him. Julian nodded. “Just waiting for my friend. I’m sure she’ll be here any second now.”
He turned his attention back to the door, biting his lip and hoping that Aly would be there soon. [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: d3d3d3; width: 370px; padding-top: 30; padding-bottom: 30;]wretched, look at me, i've lost it melting on the table, in parking lots and markets. It had been an hour since Julian had text her, he seemed upset and needed cheering up. This was Alicia's perfect opportunity to get him out of his comfort zone and show him how awesome Las Vegas could be if you'd let the sin in. She told him to meet her at Mercy in an hour, but she made sure she was ready in 45 minutes knowing his habit to show up early places. Last thing she wanted was for him to be left awkward and alone in a club like that. Her heels were clicking down the sidewalk as she walked passed the line, smiling at the bouncer as he simply let her through. Laughing at all of the angry shouts she left behind as the music flooded in.
She kept her eyes on the lookout for a tall blonde boy as she made her way to the bar, ordering a vodka and cranberry. As the bartender handed her the drink she handed him a ten dollar bill before turning to see Julian in the corner of her eye. Her eyes glistened as she smiled at him and waved before walking toward him. Hugging him with her free hand as he stood to greet her. "I'm so glad you came," she said just loud enough for him to hear with a smile as she took a sip of her drink. Puckering her lips, she shook her head and commented, "man that's strong," she said before seeing the wine in his hand. Frowning, she put the wine on the bar and said, "no no that will not do. Try this," she said placing her drink to his lips smiling. You'll feel better, forget all about your problems.. she thought with a smile.

“Thanks for showing up, Aly.”
Julian said, offering his friend the best smile he could muster at that point and time. He took a sip of the drink she offered and nearly choked on it. “That’s strong!” He said, looking vaguely like an injured puppy. “I’m not much of a drinker.” He said by way of explanation. He didn’t tell her that actually, this was the first time he’d actually been in a bar. There was only so much embarrassment he could take. Embarrassment, like, for example being infatuated with his study buddy and having no idea how to go about dealing with it, or if he should even bother at all. Which is why he had text Aly. And probably why he had agreed to come to Mercy with her, despite the fact that it was very clearly not his scene. “Why Mercy?” He asked. Because, really, what had been going through Aly’s head that she thought it would be a good idea to hang out at Mercy of all places, rather than somewhere quiet. Like his dorm. Or Starbucks. Or somewhere less crowded and surrounded with alcohol. The most experience Julian had with alcohol was a glass of white wine with his sister.
