On the surface, his family seemed perfect. Nobody outside of the Morgan’s knew about their abusive father, or that Joshua’s sister Kiara cut herself and considered committing suicide. Nobody knew except for Kiara’s mother. Even Joshua was completely oblivious to Kiara’s pain. One day, when Joshua was sixteen, he heard sobbing coming from his sister’s room. Concerned, he followed the noise and found his sister, cutting herself. He sat next to her, took the knife from her hand and she told him that their father had been sexually abusing her for years. Joshua knew that their father was physically abusive, but had no idea that it was to this extent. He told their mother about what had happened, and six months later, Kiara committed suicide. Following his sister’s suicide, Joshua fell away from his parents. He was promiscuous, and slept exclusively with straight boys, just to show that he could.
